China Operations Manager
PD International – Markham, ONFounded in 1993, PD International is an established distributor for driveline parts for the automotive and all-terrain vehicle market. Besides stocking all major brands, PD International also distributes heavy-duty axles and brake pads, as well as OEM replacement parts under its own brand name. To ensure consistently high-quality standards, we utilize an ISO-based quality system in our operations at both our head office in Markham, Ontario, and our manufacturing/quality control centre in Shanghai, China.
PD International has full stock inventory in our Canadian warehouse, and a growing selection of products fin our US warehouse for even faster distribution. We distribute both domestically and internationally, from smaller dealerships to larger global corporations.
PD International is now seeking a China Operations Manager to manage operations between our Canada and China offices, based out of our Canada office at 310 Steelcase Rd. E., Unit A, Markham, ON L3R 1G2. This position will require 40 hours per week and the offered salary is $89,440 per year, plus group benefits.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage operations between the Canada (Markham) and China (Shanghai) offices of PD International and ensure smooth workflow between the two offices;
• Lead the Operations Department, establishing operational and production goals, identifying and implementing operational efficiencies;
• Working closely with the Product and R&D Department, ensure all the manufacturing and quality requirements of PD International’s brands are met by the Shanghai facility and product designs are interpreted correctly into finished products;
• Predict, address and resolve any operational issues in the China office to ensure normal processes and schedules of the Canada office are not impacted;
• Set up methods and controls to ensure timely identification, reporting and resolution of all issues;
• Establish relationships with high quality Chinese driveline parts brands, distributors, and/or manufacturers to expand PD International’s product line-up;
• Create and oversee the budget, and set appropriate standards and measurements;
• Ensure all operations in the Markham and Shanghai offices adhere to the ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949-based internal quality system;
• Communicate any necessary product design changes due to manufacturing limitations or capabilities back to the Product and R&D Department as necessary;
• Liaise between key managers in both locations, establish communications protocols and harmonize procedures;
• Ensure accurate communications between PD International’s Canada and China offices, ensure product designs from the Canada office can be suitably scaled up in manufacturing for optimal quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness;
• Identify and hire key staff;
• Review and approve agreements, represent and promote the company at high-level meetings and ensure open communication among key management and staff.Requirements:
• A bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience is required;
• Fluency in spoken and written Mandarin;
• At least 5 years’ experience in the automotive parts manufacturing industry in China;
• At least 3 years’ senior operations management experience in the automotive parts manufacturing industry in China;
• Extensive knowledge of the automotive parts industry, strong technical background, knowledge of auto parts product design and experience liaising with R&D;
• Familiar with ISO 9001 quality system;
• Familiar with ISO/TS 16949 automotive industry quality system;
• Able to use Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, inventory control software, and ERP system;
• Strong relationships with auto part manufacturers and distributers;
• Able to work in a highly fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
• Superior communication skills
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Position, 40 hours per week
